Sasahana, Ginza (ささ花)

There are a few places in Tokyo that I believe in enough to go back to, and a very few that I feel compelled to post more than once about. Sasahana is one of them. The attraction here is that you get the full-on Ginza kappo treatment for less money than you’d expect. In the middle row, the beef he’s cutting is actually tuna. In the bottom row, the sea bass filet is actually eel. This is what they mean by ‘ingredient quality’.

Something I didn’t realize before is that the sake list is extraordinary. It’s very rare to see a ‘toubin’ sake, one that’s been stored in an 18-liter bottle, but they had about 10 of them. And Kouro, you never see that (but now that I’ve had it twice, I really think it’s another example of the inventor being eclipsed by its followers.).
